LAKE MEAD: Man failed to resurface after jumping from boat at Boulder Basin June 5

National Park Service rangers are searching for a man who was last seen in the water in the Boulder Basin of Lake Mead. Around 1:25 p.m. Sunday, the Lake Mead National Recreation Area Interagency Communication Center received a call from a witness who reported that a man jumped off a boat into the water and didn’t resurface, according to a NPS statement. Witnesses said he was wearing a life jacket, but it came off when he jumped into the water. NPS rangers, the U.S. Coast Guard and Nevada Department of Wildlife game wardens responded and began searching for the missing person who is believed to be about a half mile from the shoreline in an area that is 80-160 feet deep. Crews are continuing to search the area. The incident is under investigation. | iH
