– Henderson Police officers captured a 31-year-old man after he attacked ten people with a hammer in the span of an hour in Boulder City and Henderson Friday night.

The Las Vegas resident is being held in the Henderson Detention Center and faces six counts of attempted murder and one count of assault with a deadly weapon.

Boulder City Police is the lead agency in the investigation with Henderson Police assisting. None of the victims had a connection to the suspect and none of the injuries appeared to be life threatening.

The incident began in Boulder City about 8 p.m. Friday when the man is accused of running another driver off the road on U.S. 93 and striking the man several times with a one-handed sledgehammer, according to police.

He then drove off and ran another driver off the roadway and attacked the driver with the hammer.

The man then is accused of driving into Henderson and cutting off a driver at Greenway Road and Horizon Drive. He allegedly attacked the driver with the hammer before getting back in his car and driving up Greenway Road to Heather Drive.

At Heather Drive he is accused of cutting in front of an oncoming vehicle. When the driver stopped he is accused of attacking her before again fleeing.

The suspect then drove to Foothill High School and reportedly hit a man with the hammer. He then fled as officers were arriving.

He then drove to a Taco Bell restaurant on Horizon Drive and blocked a vehicle in the drive-thru lane and attacked that vehicle and driver.

He sped off and pulled into a nearby neighborhood and cut off another vehicle and got out, smashing the car with the hammer. The driver of that vehicle was not injured.

Officers were in pursuit and when confronted by a K-9 officer on Arrowhead Canyon Drive, the man surrendered about 9 p.m. Friday.

Police say he is also suspected of attacking three more people in Boulder City Friday night. Their conditions are unknown and additional charges may be filed.

Boulder City and Henderson detectives continued Saturday to investigate the rash of violence; however, at this time there does not appear to be any clear motivation for the attacks.

The suspect’s family said he disappeared from his Las Vegas home a few days ago and had not returned. Detectives are also trying to determine why he was in Boulder City.

Anyone with information in this case is urged to call the Henderson Police Department at 702-267-4750 or, to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555 or visit crimestoppersofnv.com.
